The Donna Summer Musical on Broadway-Get ready to dance in your seat!

Her music is alive on Broadway, just like it has been for decades on the radio.  I have honestly no idea how it stacks up to other shows in terms of theatrical achievement, but it was a great time, made me get up and dance, and was a great tribute to the music of the late queen of disco.  More than anything, it was a great time!

I loved this musical! I went to NY and I wanted to see a show on Broadway, and this was my first opportunity to attend one.  It is performed at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre, a gorgeous theater steps from Times Square.

What a flash back to the life and sounds of the Seventies and Eighties. Donna Summer was the party. And this show tells the story of a very “real” human being who was incredibly gifted. What a great woman is portrayed here on stage.  I felt like I really got to know her and I had barely heard of before that night.

As I said, I didn’t really have much knowledge of Donna Summer going in. However, this fun packed musical inspired me to listen to some of her music after I left, and I even recognized some of her hits that where performed during the show!

The show tells the story of Donna Summer’s early life, her rise to fame, her success, failures, and eventual death.

The entire cast is so talented and the show is so energetic, the time just flies by! The show was glitzy, glamorous and full of life with the disco beat of Donna Summer’s classic and iconic songs.

Three actresses portray Summer at various phases of her life.  The ladies who played Donna Summer were amazing- incredible voices and stage presence. The production was equally as good. I was surprised at how well done the whole thing was.

The audience was great and we were all standing and dancing at the end. If you love Donna Summers music you will love this show! And even if you didn’t think you did, by the end you will be a fan for sure!
