This is the 5th Cirque show I have seen, and this time I invited my friend Yessica Peralta. The show was an amazing array of bright colors and unique acts full of cool effects, including some fire!
Zarkana is the newest acrobatic show presented by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, and is located inside the Aria, one of the newest casino resorts on the strip. Having Zarkana featured here definitely helps attract more traffic to this property.
This is a great show for couples, but is also a great option for families that are looking for something to see together.
The show starts on time, and like many Cirque du Soleil it’s very entertaining. It was fun 90 minutes with no intermission and the talent on display was certainly very impressive.
Beautiful stage sets and lighting effects filled the theater, but did not overshadow the show itself, because that was great. I loved the cute voices the dancers made.
There was also plenty of music in the show! There was singing and piano playing, and each act had music that went well with their particular act. They featured a live singer and musicians that came out more than a few times. Additionally, they had these clowns that were actually funny and not annoying. It’s hard to be a clown!
The production is amazing. I can appreciate the creativity and design of the costumes and sets, and how they must work with a performer’s dancing and acrobatic skills. I can also appreciate the training these performers must undergo for a production. They skill they show is nothing short of incredible.
Some of the interesting sights included juggling, aerial rope acts, short flag throwing, tight rope walking, balancing on ladders, sand painting, trapeze artists, and a spinning “Wheel of Death.”
I also loved the lady that “paints” with the blue sand. It was amazing to see her create a full landscape in just a few minutes and then swipe it away in a second.
The best thing about the theater is the couch-style seating they offer from the front of the stage about half-way up on the bottom seating level. They are comfortable and there’s a place to set your drink and food in front of you (table-like) – very relaxing.
I love watching all Cirque du Soleil shows, because I do enjoy experiencing their acrobatic feats and efforts in stage decorations. There is a reason millions of fans flock to their shows every year!
As for Zarkana, it holds up well to its sister shows! It was a great Cirque du Soleil show, and watching it definitely made for a great night in Vegas!
