Less than a half-hour drive from Las Vegas, you can step back in time and experience a historic and interesting ride on the unique Nevada Southern Railway.
The Nevada Southern Railway at the Nevada State Railroad Museum is located in historic Boulder City, Nevada – the city that built the Hoover Dam.
Take US-93 south toward Boulder City. After passing the traffic light at Veterans Memorial Drive, proceed 0.7 miles to Yucca Street (just past the Taco Bell). Turn left onto Yucca Street, and the train station for the Nevada Southern Railway is on your right.
This train can be an exceptional experience for everyone, as it facilitates accessibility for people with limited mobility, whether they are using wheelchairs, walkers, scooters or canes.
Employees are friendly and amazing how they preserved the old trains… Love it…
Handicapped parking is available on site, and all parking is free.
During the journey, passengers walk from car to car, sitting where they please. Large windows on the closed cars provide views of the desert and mountains as the train passes by within sight of busy U.S. 93. Wildflowers still grace the washes.
It is a historical train ride, great for kids that have not experience a real train ride before and for grown ups too. I loved the experience!
This specifically designed coach was the first car renovated by the railway. It has ample space to allow numerous occupants with assistance devices, accompanied by their families and friends.
Ride in your choice of an open air car, or air conditioned / heated Pullman coaches.
This experience is something you would never expect right outside of Sin City.
The old trains were interesting and it’s a great experience learning more about the history of the railroad…
The rails history dates back to the 1930’s – the time this Boulder Branch Line was constructed by the Union Pacific Railroad to service the Boulder Dam project.
All the workers are volunteers and tickets are really cheap.
This place was awesome. The train ride was very informative, rich with history.
Arrive about 15 minutes before departure. The excursions are not crowded enough to require reservations. 45-minute train ride. http://www.nevadasouthern.com/
After the train adventure, those who want to experience more of Boulder City history can find it at the historic Boulder Dam Hotel in Old Town or eat something good at other area restaurants including the Southwest Diner.
