I love to hang out with my journalists colleagues Miguel Martinez Valle, who works with Fox 5, and Rafael Contreras and Begona Sevilla who work with me at Univision.
On a recent off day, we wanted to do something different, and out of the Las Vegas area. Since Begona and Miguel had never been there, we though Mt. Charleston would be a great spot.
Just like us, a lot of Las Vegans love to go Mount Charleston to see the beautiful scenery, play in the snow, and eat something next to a fire place in the Mount Charleston Lodge.
The place was packed, but we had a great time talking and drinking their awesome hot chocolate while we waited for a table to order our food.
Who doesn’t love hot chocolate? Some of the best memories I have since moving to Las Vegas is drinking hot chocolate with good friends in this place during the winter.
There is nothing like having a good hot chocolate at an elevation of 7,717 ft., completely surrounded by great views as far as the eye can see.
After we drank our hot chocolate, we ordered pizza, ribs with french fries and a turkey sandwich. Yummy! After we ate, of course it was time to take pictures for my blog and our social media.
The 40 minute drive to get here was worth it, but if you are considering making the trip for yourself, be prepared to be patient. At this time of year they get a lot of visitors. This, along with the hazardous driving conditions will keep you on your toes. Of course your extra caution will be rewarded with a great visit to Mt. Charleston, a place that is so close to the city, yet a world away!
