This is Vegas? Wow, what a wonderful surprise!! When I arrived, I felt like I was somewhere else. I had no idea this type of place even existed in the desert. What an awesome experience!
Sixty acres of agricultural land in the Las Vegas Valley offer a diverse choice of fruits and vegetables that you can select and pick yourself.
When I got there around 10 am, it was already packed with families and their children.
The Orchard is HUGE, stocked with lots of fresh veggies to pick, including tons of pumpkins this time of year.
I’ve been in Vegas for almost 8 years, but just made it out to Gilcrease Orchard last weekend. I’m going to assume fall is the best time to visit for the pumpkin patch, wagon rides, and festive snacks, like caramel apples, apple cider, and of course the famous cinnamon donuts! They were delicious.
Everything is mostly $1.00 a pound and you pick your own fruits. It would really help to bring your garden gloves if you have a pair, and wear shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. And don’t forget to bring bags for your produce.
The orchard has both street parking and a lot, with guides. Clear signage indicates where you can find each crop.
They have wagons you can borrow, but you can’t bring the wagons on the tractor, so maybe a backpack or a big bag to keep all your stuff in would be ideal.
It is 100% free to get in. They are open right now Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 7 am – 2 pm through the end of October. I suggest getting there early as possible, because it gets busy.
Prices are pretty fair, and the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.
Yes, stuff here might be a little more expensive than the average grocery store, but you’re not only supporting a farm, but also a family who has deep roots in the Valley. Besides who can resist anything fresh picked!
