Exploring New Orleans Beyond Bourbon Street

New Orleans, Louisiana, is a city that needs no introduction. From the Carnival celebration and Mardi Gras, to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Voodoo Experience, Essence Music Festival and Southern Decadence, New Orleans is constantly looking for an excuse to celebrate and spread its cheerful spirit all year long.

New Orleans, the Big Easy or simply NOLA—it is the multicultural, cosmopolitan land of brass, jazz and blues that’s survived many economic struggles and natural disasters and has somehow maintained its resilient spirit.

During my visit I wanted to see New Orleans Beyond Bourbon Street, how the city has rebuilt itself since Hurricane Katrina and a little bit of history. It was a great idea to take a tour with City Sightseeing New Orleans.

There is anything New Orleans’ economy has proven throughout history, it would be its resilience, having survived several crises and natural disasters.

New Orleans is now one of the fastest-growing cities in America as no other city gets in your soul like they do. Tourism continues to set new records and they now have more restaurants than they did before the storm. They are making headway on crime, construction is booming, the arts, music, and shopping are thriving and there is a new sense of life and vibrancy everywhere you go.

I had a three day ticket for the Hop-on Hop-off Tour, which I used to get a feel of the place, also included a free walking tour of the French Quarter and the Garden District. It was awesome!

Garden District: it was a walking tour and it can be easily reached from the Hop on Hop off bus. Impressive neighborhood which contain historical private houses and beautiful yards. The Garden District is full with American history, this of before the civil war and that of after it. This place is a showcase of a charming and unique mix of architecture! A fusion of the French, Spain, Caribbean and American architectures!

French Quater: I’ve taken many tours with guides in many places and I couldn’t believe how great this tour was and I made sure you wear comfortable shoes.
My tour guide was an encyclopedia of New Orleans history and knowledge about history, art, literature, music and at my request, Katrina.

What a place, crazy, awesome, weird, friendly, good food. It’s a great place to visit, one of a kind city suitable for everyone. Loved it and going to go back.

My tour with City Sightseeing New Orleans was great but let me tell you there are 18 designated stops with about 30 minutes break in the middle. The easiest way to purchase a ticket is head to the most conveniently located stop to you and simply Hop-On the Bus! As you Hop-On just let the driver know you need to purchase tickets and they will be more than happy to help.

Thanks New Orleans and thanks
