Get ready for the Mayor of Chicago’s Chinatown Tony Hu to open his newest restaurant, Lao Sze Chuan at the Palms.
There’s no question that there’s a significant difference between Chinese food in America and traditional Chinese food with Mandarin, Cantonese, Shanghai and Hunan dishes. This is a welcome Chinese invasion of “the real thing” as master chef Tony Hu celebrates the ribbon cutting of his restaurant in the former Little Buddha at the Palms.
Chef Tony’s exciting spicy menu is a reinvention of his popular Chicago restaurants. The menu is packed with more than 200 beef, chicken, pork and seafood options including soups, dim sum and an emphasis on hot pots, such as the house special chicken in hot mini wok, simmered bone-in for delectable flavor.
The decor and new look of the venue proves that it’s a perfect match. Lao Sze Chuan a glamorous palace. The 150-seat restaurant with an open design is swaddled in a rich menagerie of textiles peppered with high ceilings, chandeliers and traditional Chinese elements. Here you will find beautiful metallic golds, bold reds, ceramic sculptures and culturally inspired artwork round out the decor.
Lao Sze Chuan at the Palms is open Sundays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to midnight and Friday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. The restaurant serves dim sum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
