Wet‘n’Wild Las Vegas hosted a “Celebrity Slideboarding Competition” for charity to kick off the Memorial Day Weekend opening of the world’s first “Slideboarding” waterslide attraction.
Slideboarding, which has been implemented on the Zipp Zapp Zoom ride, integrates gaming and competitive sports into a waterslide experience that will change the waterpark industry forever. The technology employs a smart gaming system that tracks each player’s progress/scores as he or she heads down the slide. It then posts the scores on affiliated scoreboards. The system creates tailored experiences for each rider in varying degrees of difficulty based upon prior games.
Participants and other guests had the opportunity to preview (and experience) the newest attraction at Las Vegas’ favorite summer playground.
Local celebrities: BMX pro athlete Ricardo Laguna; a Las Vegas Outlaws football athlete; BBoy Benstacks of Supercr3w from MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew; comedian Matt Kazman; photographer and social media expert Tracy Lee; and multiple on-air personalities from CBS Radio, iHeartMedia, Kemp Broadcasting and Lotus Broadcasting.
The First Place winner, Bailrok for Ronald McDonald House of Las Vegas, received a check for their charity in the amount of $1,000. Wet’n’Wild also provided a “Splash Bash,” donating 100 tickets to the charity, a free lunch for each child, and 100 tickets to a Las Vegas Outlaws football game.
