As you all are probably aware, I love to try out new places. Especially ones that serve food! So when I heard about Carl’s Donuts, I made sure to be there for their grand opening.
People enjoy donuts a little differently here in the United States than they do in my home country of Panama. There, they are more for dessert, and typically treated as a treat. Here, they are more of a breakfast staple. But of course, great donuts can, and should be enjoyed anytime!
Living in Summerlin, it was quite a drive to get there, as it is located on Sunset, near the airport. Fortunately, the drive was worth it. When you walk in to the place, the first thing you notice is the display case filled with amazing looking donuts and pastries. Everything looked so delicious!
However, I could only enjoy one, so I decided on a cherry pastry. I made a great choice as it was perfect. The pastry was so light and fluffy and the filling was wonderful. To accompany it I had some orange juice. When they say freshly squeezed, they mean freshly squeezed. It tasted like I had just cut an orange and was sucking the juice out of it. It was awesome!
My husband enjoyed some iced coffee as well as a lemon donut and a Bavarian cream. He also loved it saying it was better than some of the other popular designed donut shops in town.
But even if you are as far away as we are, it is definitely worth the drive. I love to see new local businesses open up and to give them my support. Especially ones that have as good of a product as Carl’s does.
So the next time you are in the mood for some delicious donuts, awesome coffee, or the freshest juice, try Carl’s Donuts out. I promise you will be glad you did.
