If you want to take a break from the Las Vegas Strip, see the making of chocolate and wouldn’t mind a free sample, Ethel M is sure to be a sweet stop.
I took a drive to the factory to see how they make
Ethel M Cocolates.
The place smells heavenly, the staff could not be nicer and I had a great time during my visit.
Really cool tour of how they make their artisan chocolate and the beautiful cactus garden welcomes visitors to explore and learn more about desert plants.
This is the only Ethel M factory in the world. Forrest Mars Sr. opened the location in 1981. He named the brand after his mother Ethel, who made chocolates from scratch — right in their own kitchen.
The recipe for the chocolate never changed. To this day, chocolates are still hand-packed into the boxes.
Located on the southeast side of town, Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Garden is only a 15-minute drive from the Strip.
I walked in and behind a glass window thru a hallway. I watched the process how the chocolates are made.
From bars of chocolates, to melting into molded trays, boxed and packaged. You see workers in white uniforms, hairnets and with
gloves supervising the process.
At the end, there are samples and a gift store for you to buy freshly made candies.
After seeing and smelling the rich aroma of these sweets, I get a sample of one of my favorite chocolate in the retail area.
Ready to walk off all those calories from the chocolate? Just outside is the unique, three-acre Botanical Cactus Garden. It features more than 300 types of cactus.
Ethel M Chocolates’ breathtaking Botanical Cactus Garden is Nevada’s largest and one of the world’s largest collections of its kind. Based on the English landscape model of naturalistic design, the Ethel M Botanical Cactus Garden features four acres of drought-tolerant ornamentals, cacti, and other succulents.
