Spanish Trail Country Club is an oasis in the desert

In my travels in and around Las Vegas, I have been to many interesting places.  Many, such as the restaurants and entertainment venues, are pretty much what I normally do whether I am out reviewing a place, or if I am just out to have fun.

Then there are other places that may not be my typical hangouts, but through this site offer me a great opportunity to visit some great places in the area.  The Gun Garage and the Mayweather Boxing Club are examples of just such places.

Now I can add the Spanish Trail Country Club to that list!
Located on Tropicana and Buffalo, this is so much more than just a golf club.  And that is what really surprised me the most.  Expecting to see a beautiful golf club, which I saw, I was also treated to an amazing tennis facility, a fitness center, great food, a pool, and so many more incredible things!  I can’t believe I have lived in Vegas this long and am just now discovering this amazing place!
We arrived at the facility where we were greeted warmly by Jeff Drothler.  He is in charge of marketing and was excited to show us the facilities.  We started with a quick tour of the immaculate locker rooms, as well as a card room where members can just hang out, socialize, and play cards.  Not a bad way to spend a day!
Then we went outside where we got a glimpse of the amazing course.  Spanish Trail offers something pretty unique.  They have three separate courses of nine holes that allow golfers to get a different experience each time out.  The different combinations available are great, and when they have to do repairs on one course, you still have the other two up and running.  That means no matter what kind of maintenance they have going on, you will always be able to get in a full 18 holes.
Another very different thing about this course, is that it doesn’t have desert landscaping like the other courses do in Las Vegas.  This place is nothing but green everywhere!  It’s almost like you have left the city behind once you enter the gates.

There was more than just golfers out on the course, a apparently a large flock of loons like to hang out on the course.  And with a view like this, who can blame them?

As we continued our tour, it was explained that not only is this a great place to participate in all the activities offered, but it is also a popular place for people to get married.  And with the views, as well as the amazing indoor spaces available, I can certainly understand how this could be a dream destination for any couple ready to say their vows.
After we got a look around, we had a bite to eat out on the patio overlooking the course.  The food was great.  My burger and my husband’s french dip were perfectly cooked and very reasonably priced considering our surroundings.  I would come here if for no other reason than to grab a bite and enjoy the view.
As we spoke with Jeff, he told us about how everything worked.  One thing that I found interesting was that the club was not completely private.  In fact, non-members are more than welcome to come in and try out the facilities.  Of course, I am pretty confident that once you try them out, you will be jumping at the opportunity to join!  And the best part is that their fees are much lower than you would ever expect from a place this wonderful.

As we wrapped up our time at Spanish Trail, my only regret was that we didn’t have more time.  From golf, to tennis, to great food, to the fitness room, there is so much to do here.  In fact, i can’t even mention it all in this article.  I am eager to get back and try out some golf, or maybe take some of the tennis lessons they offer.  You should check them out too and see what you have been missing.
