Bodies Exhibition

While in the Luxor Hotel and Casino recently, I was offered the opportunity to explore anatomy through displays of actual human bodies, getting a better understanding of the circulatory system, the muscles in our body and the effects of toxins on the body.

Bodies the Exhibition provides an intimate and informative view into the human body.

Special thanks to Kirvin Doak Communications for allowing me to attend this special exhibition.

Bodies is perhaps one of the most impressive works of science I have ever seen. To understand the human anatomy, you must see it up close and in person. This exhibition introduces you to the human body though actual human specimens in a display of science marvel.

All of the exhibits are actual human bodies or human body parts, not manufactured representations. The bodies, received after dying from natural causes, are preserved through an amazing scientific process called polymer preservation.

I was particularly fascinated with viewing the differences between a

smokers and non-smokers lungs. The normal flesh color had turned to that of ash. I was happy at the thought that my lungs must still be a fleshy pigment. Yes!

Displays present the most current information about common diseases, the effects of tobacco use, and the mechanics of artificial body parts.

There are entire skeletons, bodies in various stages of activity and there are many more isolated body parts – bodies dissected to show the intricacies of the human species.

A separate room displays fetuses from early conception until birth. The fetuses all died naturally in utero or shortly after birth. It was amazing to look at the earliest moments of human life.

The exhibit is large, covering almost 37,000 square feet on the mezzanine level of the Luxor.
